About the European IT Certification Institute (EITCI)

The European Information Technologies Certification Institute EITCI has been established as a not-for-profit European non-governmental organization in the legal form of a Belgian Association sans but lucratif in accordance with provisions of Title III of the Belgian Law, granting legal personality to non-profit associations and establishments of public utility. The Institute has its headquarters office in Belgium, at Avenue des Saisons 100-102 bte 30, 1050 Brussels.

The mission of the EITCI Institute is to counteract digital exclusion in society by undertaking research and development of IT certification methodologies and standards, increasing general accessibility of IT certificates to citizens. Information technologies academic and industrial society representatives in the European countries have been invited to membership in the Institute to form the Board of Directors and the Committees bodies that will be governing the Institute within the framework of elaborated articles of association.

Although members associated within the EITCI Institute recognize value of existing industrial and academic IT certification programs, they believe that further diversification of this market sector and undertaking efforts towards increasing accessibility to certification procedures (especially addressing the problem of overcoming individual barriers in physical access with adherence to high quality of certificates) is beneficial to international society. An important purpose of the EITCI Institute is to intensify dynamics of e-Learning compatible IT certification processes development by designing methodologies of reliable on-line testing and assessment systems, thus significantly increasing access for individuals unwilling or unable to meet requirements of physical presence during examination procedure (e.g. due to associated inconveniences, costs or physical disabilities).

The EITCI Institute is actively seeking to increase accessibility to skill assessment and formal documentation in the form of IT certificates, not only among IT professionals in international society. The level of society dependence on information technologies is currently so high, that proficiency in IT is no longer a domain of IT professionals only, rather starting to become a core competency concerning all other sectors of economy. The EITCI Institute is governing and licensing its IT certification programs, which are commercially available to individual and institutional customers over the EITCI Licensee Network, assembling cooperating companies that implement the EITCC and EITCA on-line IT certification examination procedures, optionally extended by certification program compliant stationary or non-stationary (e-Learning) training methodologies in a given country and language. No commercial services of IT certification or IT training are offered directly by the EITCI Institute.
